History

Some of the best food in Hawaii has quite humble beginnings. In 1984, Thanh Quoc Lam opened the first Ba-Le sandwich shop in Chinatown not long after he baked his first loaf of bread. Now, more than 25 years and countless loaves later, Thanh and his family have expanded the company to include nearly 30 shops and a thriving wholesale business that supplies the finest baked goods and food-production services to some of Hawaii’s most recognized companies. La Tour, (which means “the tower” in French) is inspired by France’s Eiffel Tower and the birthplace of the world’s finest pastries. It also reflects our unending commitment to equally outstanding quality and craftsmanship. It’s that kind of dedication that has made us a household name and longtime favorite throughout the Islands for our diverse selection of the most delicious breads, pastries, snacks and much, much more.
